Iowa doesn’t have a ton of waterfalls, but they’re there if you know where to look. If you’re planning to photograph waterfalls, you’re going to need some extra gear. You’ll want to bring along a towel and possibly a change of clothes. Waders or a swimsuit might also come in handy, depending on the season. You will need a tripod and neutral density filters to get that beautiful, silky water look. Other than that, find your location, and shoot. If it’s a popular spot, you may have to be patient, but you’ll get an opening eventually. Above all, be careful not to fall down the waterfall.
