Every time you go to photograph a new type of animal, you find that you still have a lot to learn about wildlife photography. I was walking through the woods looking for birds and hoping for an owl. Instead, I found a butterfly. I, in my ignorance, believed that it would be an easy shot to get. It’s not.

This pretty little butterfly led me on a merry chase through the woods. It would pick a pretty spot and wait for me to almost get it in focus before flittering off again. Or, it would land behind a leaf or other obstruction so I would be forced to move to a different angle to get a clear shot. Oh and as soon as I did, it would take off again.

By the end, I was on the other side of the woods from where I started. But, by golly, I had at least one good shot.

Enjoy!
