Framing is Important

Iconic landmarks can be a lot of fun to photograph; but, the trick is finding a new way to photograph these structures. The Campanile has stood over the Iowa State University Central Campus since 1897. Finding a new way to capture this well-known structure is definitely a challenge.

Changing seasons and different events can give different options for changing up the appearance of a landmark. Walking around the structure might provide you a different perspective. Moving low and looking up or moving high and looking down are great ways to get a new view. I tend to look for unique ways to frame a landmark.

In this picture, I framed the carillon of the Campanile with fully leafed trees. This unique framing lends depth to the photograph and a unique take on the structure.
